What is MSG in Maggi Noodles?

What is MSG in Maggi? In past one month or so there has been a lot of shouting on Maggi noodles and everyone is pointing towards the ill effects caused by the component of Maggi i.e.MSG and Lead. MSG, or Mono sodium Glutamate is a salt of the amino acid - Glutamate Acid (glutamate).  A salt is the chemical name for a molecule held together by opposite charges.   Basically one (mono) sodium atom is "stuck" to the amino acid glutamate. What MSG does? MSG in edible food stuff available in market is a agent which tricks our tongue by giving a signal to the brain that the food that you just put in your mouth is high in protein and is good in taste.
