What is MSG in Maggi?
In past one month or so there has been a lot of shouting on Maggi noodles and everyone is pointing towards the ill effects caused by the component of Maggi i.e.MSG and Lead.
MSG, or Mono sodium Glutamate is a salt of the amino acid - Glutamate Acid (glutamate). A salt is the chemical name for a molecule held together by opposite charges. Basically one (mono) sodium atom is "stuck" to the amino acid glutamate.
What MSG does?
MSG in edible food stuff available in market is a agent which tricks our tongue by giving a signal to the brain that the food that you just put in your mouth is high in protein and is good in taste.
Because of it the food processor companies to not have to add much protein in their product which in turn increases their profit.
for example: if we add more MSG in a chicken soup then the company has to add less chicken in it which will create a negative effect on our health but will increase the profit of the companies as the production cost will be less due less chicken.
MSG is generated by different parts of our body i.e. by Brain, ears, eyes, nervous system and pancreas in our body use to initiate certain processes in your body.
However adding this Artificial MSG in body from different sources will create negative impact on human health.
MSG stimulates our pancreas to produce insulin.Insulin act on the carbohydrates present in food but if you notice these Processed food item in market are low in carbohydrates so what happens is again increases the profit of companies i.e. at 1:30 pm you ate Maggi(with high MSG). insulin generated by pancreas to act on carbohydrate but due to less carbohydrate and protein there is a insulin flood which decreases your blood sugar level and you are hungry again at 2:30pm.
so if you are supposed to eat one Maggi in a day then you will eat three-four maggi in a day.which is again a profit statement for the company.
